About
I have field experience doing research on ecotourism in the Brazilian Amazon and the impact on local communities (masters at Leiden University).
Recently I graduated in Latin American Studies at the Center for Latin American Research and Documentation (CEDLA) in Amsterdam. My studies were internationally oriented, and as such I have developed excellent communication skills in English, Portuguese and Spanish. Through my studies and fieldwork, I have developed an expertise in natural resource management, agriculture and small-scale fisheries in Latin America, with a special focus on Brazil. Furthermore, during my internship at the NGO Fairfood International I engaged in research on various sustainability issues in the food and beverage industry, with a special focus on water management in the agricultural/ fishing sector. My internship, field experiences in Brazil and the interdisciplinary nature of the CEDLA, have prepared me to work both independently and as a team with people from different fields of expertise and disciplines. It also gave me the academic skills needed for the rest of my career.
In the future, I hope to continue to research and work with sustainability. I also hope to further develop an understanding of the implications of sustainable development, poverty reduction and conservation project for local populations (especially youth) living in and around protected areas in nearly per-urban coastal areas in Brazil.
